Flight Training Overview
This course is conducted in our state of the art 737 800 flight simulator and is made up of 5 modules that replicate the real-world commercial pilot training syllabus. Those with no experience start at the beginning on Module 1 and those that are more advanced will have early modules automatically signed off spending more time on the more challenging modules.
COURSE MODULES
MODULE 1 – Basic flight training, general handling, cockpit layout and aircraft preparation, advanced handling, circuits, multi engine techniques.
MODULE 2 – Instrument Rating, i.e. navigating and flying without reference to the outside world, understanding Jeppesen charts, Departures, Transitions, Holds, Arrivals, A to B flight planning in marginal weather conditions.
MODULE 3 – 737 Type Rating, This is where you learn to operate the Boeing aircraft using all its advanced features including navigation systems, primary flight displays, navigation displays, Boeing performance, normal and non normal procedures (emergencies), memory items, FMC, EFIS, MFD etc.
MODULE 4 – MCC, Multi Crew Operation, Putting it all together, you now move from single pilot to the multi crew environment learning how to work as a team, this section includes giving briefings, following checklist all whilst conducting A to B, gate to gate sectors under airline conditions.
MODULE 5 – Instructor training, Having learned how to operate as an airline pilot you now follow the same exact course that a current airline pilot would follow if joining Virtual Aerospace. This involves you conducting a number of mock, roleplay type sessions which mimic the typical scenarios a VA instructor might encounter on a typical shift as well as an overview of operating and fault finding on the simulator itself.
AFTER COURSE COMPLETION – Usually 4 to 5 months to qualify, possible in 3, but most people take between 6 to 8 to complete the course and go live.
Upon completion and if you decide instructing part time anywhere from 2 to 10 days a month is for you, then the following steps will lead you to a position with Virtual Aerospace.
TAG TEAM – You will join an experienced instructor on a live instructional day. This is no longer part of the course, and you will be paid for your time. Most days consist of 5 or 6 flying hours, and during the day you will undertake your first live customer sessions. Most people require between 2 to 3 tag team days to become confident enough to solo instruct.
On The Line – That’s it! You are now a fully qualified 737 instructor. You will be sent a diary at the beginning of each month where you can indicate the days you want to work and billing us for that time on the last day of the month. You can now enjoy being paid to do the thing you love as a dedicated member of the VA family.
