MILITARY FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR COURSE
Flight Training Overview
The course is made up of 4 modules that replicate the real world pilot training syllabus of somebody joining the RAF. Those with no experience will start at Module 1 and those with some experience will have modules automatically signed off and spend more time on later modules.
COURSE MODULES
MODULE 1 – Basic flight training, Vulcan & Spitfire, general handling, cockpit layout and aircraft preparation, advanced handling, military circuits, multi engine techniques, Aerobatics.
MODULE 2 – Instrument flying, i.e. navigating and flying without reference to the outside world, low level navigation, MAP reading, flight planning, Vectoring.
MODULE 3 – Operational Flying Training – Having learned how to fly the aircraft you will now learn about aerial combat and air to ground intercept, formation flying as well as the history of the aircraft (Spitfire), Ground to air bombing runs, time on target, Aerial refuelling, formation flying (Vulcan).
MODULE 4 – Instructor training, Having learned how to fly like a Military Pilot you will now follow the same course that all pilots, regardless of flying background follow when joining Virtual Aerospace. This involves conducting a number of mock, roleplay type sessions which mimic the typical scenarios a VA instructor might encounter on a shift as well as an overview of operating and fault finding on the simulators themselves.
AFTER COURSE COMPLETION – Usually 2 to 3 months to qualify, possible in 2, most take 4 to 5 to complete the course and go live.
Once finished, and if you decide instructing part time anywhere from 2 to 14 days a month is for you, then the following steps will lead you to a position with Virtual Aerospace.
TAG TEAM – You will join an experienced instructor on a live instructional day. This is no longer part of the course, and you will be paid for your time. Most days consist of 5 or 6 flying hours, and during the day you will undertake your first live customer sessions. Most people require between 2 to 3 tag team days to become confident enough to solo instruct.
On The Line – That’s it! You are now a fully qualified Vulcan & Spitfire Simulator instructor. You will be sent a diary at the beginning of each month where you can indicate the days you want to work and billing us for that time on the last day of the month. You can now enjoy being paid to do the thing you love as a dedicated member of the VA family.
