MANCHESTER LOCATION ONLY
Strap into one of our brand new Spitfire simulators and learn how to operate it correctly.
With 2 spitfires available join a friend, or fly with another pilot or instructor as they take you through the training scenarios received by real RAF pilots as they got to grips with this beautiful machine.
Your instructor will go over the basic controls in our briefing room, fit you out with your RAF flying suit and headset before escorting you to our simulator flightline.
Once strapped in your instructor will go through the aircrafts initial start sequence over the radio, you will then follow them from dispersal to the runway as either a 2 or 3 aircraft formation.
Throttles forwards as you unleash the mighty merlin engine following your instructor up into the blue. Once airborne he will talk you through practicing some basic maneuvers and then get you to try and tighten up on him to practice tricky formation flying.
Aerobatics – A key skill for any fighter pilot is getting used to unusual maneuvers, and here again you will follow the leader as you learn basic maneuvers like, roll, loop, wing over etc, once you get to grips with these basic maneuvers its time to try some touch and goes (take off and landings) back at base.
Touch & Goes – In whatever time you have left you will get a chance to try the tricky curved Spitfire approach, you will fit in as many take offs and landings as time allows before heading back to dispersal and shutdown.
Combat Training – For those with 90 minute or more sessions you are now equipped with basic maneuvers and its time to try some simulated air combat, fingers on the trigger as you climb into the sky working as a team as you attempt to shoot down your artificial generated Messerschmitt opponents.
This highly realistic and incredibly fun experience is a real introduction to the world of the WW2 fighter pilot and will leave you with a true understanding of the skill required to fly and fight in these amazing machines and an appreciation of the heroic men and women of the RAF that did this for real!
